A color photograph of Madonna taken for her high school yearbook, Rochester Adams High School, Rochester, Michigan, 1975, the reverse of the photograph inscribed in Madonna's hand in blue ballpoint pen to her high school boyfriend 'Mr. Sprouts' with a personal message, signing off, 'always be my friend so some day we can be famous dancers, LOVE & KISSES, MADONNA,' with a Penthouse magazine featuring Madonna on the front cover, September, 1985.

Madonna graduated from Rochester Adams High School with the class of 1976. Following graduation, she received a dance scholarship to attend the University of Michigan where she stayed for a year before moving to New York in 1978. She took dance classes at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, studied under Martha Graham and worked as a backup dancer for various artists before eventually signing her first record deal with Sire Records in 1982.
