Description
From ancient Rome, ca. 1st century BC. Large bronze lamp stand, once holding a large, multi-nozzled lamp on the flattened table. Tripod form with wide base and 3-part construction. 24"H.

Provenance: Purchased in the Naples area in the 1930s by the Starks family of eastern Texas and they have believed it came from the area near Herculaneum - destroyed along with Pompeii on August 24, 79 AD by Mount Vesuvius; ex-private TX collection.

This lot will be sold not subject to a reserve. The starting price is the price at which the item can sell.
Condition
Slightly askew with one leg under support missing, else excellent.
