Item Details
Description
For your consideration is a Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) statue of Bhaisajyaguru Buddha. Bhaisajyaguru Buddha is also referred to as the "Medecine Buddha" and is viewed as the healer of all suffering - a doctor who uses his teachings to heal. This form of Buddha and his mantras are used in the healing of spiritual ailments like negative karma, mental illness and other infirmities of the mind. Here the Bhaisajyaguru Buddha is seen wearing the three robes of a Buddhist monk and resting his right hand on his right knee in a meditative pose. The Buddha's left hand is holding a pagoda, symbolizing the ten thousand Buddhas of the three periods of time. This figure also depicts the Buddha with lapis lazuli colored crown of hair symbolizing the figure's aura of lapis-colored light. The figure carries a red "China" stamp used during the late Qing Dynasty and an impressed 4-character mark reading "Zhu Yongji Zao". Statue measures 8" in height, 5" wide and 3 1/2" in depth. The figure weighs 1 pound, 5 ounces.
