Description
For your consideration is a gorgeous Chinese famille rose porcelain compote. The compote has a central medallion depicting a large peach - the Chinese symbol for longevity, immortality and unity. Surrounding the central medallion are concentric decorations to include trees with a variety of blossoms. The underside of the plate is decorated with bats - the Chinese symbol of wealth and prosperity. the exaggerated or pedestal form foot is decorated with scrolling vines and flowers and waves crashing near the shore. If view from the foot up this pedestal dish seems to indicate the spiritual journey through life. The compote is 7 1/4" in diameter and 3 1/4" in height and weighs 1 pound, 2 ounces.
