Description
Statue of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, The Courtship of Miles Standish, where John Allen is asked to propose to Priscilla for his friend Captain Miles Standish on his behalf. Even though John is in love with Priscilla as well, he goes and asks her anyway. Priscilla sees that John has feelings for her in which she responds "Why don't you speak for yourself John?" implying he should ask to marry her for himself and not his friend. This statue captures this interaction between John and Priscilla in color. Other statues like this are usually colorless. Artist's name is marked on the floor with the names of the characters marked as well. Good condition with some minor paint loss on some corners. Measures 17"W x 14"D x 22"T.
