Eisenlohr first studied art with Frank Reaugh and Robert Jenkins Onderdonk, later attending the Art Students League in New York. Over the next twenty years, he was known as one of the most accomplished artists in North Texas. He exhibited widely, and his credits include the Art Institute of Chicago; the National Academy of Design; the Texas Centennial Exposition; the New York World's Fair; the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe; and museum exhibitions across the state of Texas. On the Guadalupe River, is an example of what he called his "little gems," and underscores Eisenlohr's importance to Texas art collectors.
