Jenks Breech Loading Flintlock Musketoon,Â
.64 caliber smoothbore, 25.562" round barrel, marked on the top flat at breech in five lines U>S>, 1839, Wm Jenks, EB, P. On the left flat of barrel is a"S". Rear of lockplate marked Chicoppe Falls Co. MS. Steel Tulip head ramrod, Steel buttplate and bands. Walnut stock. Jenks flintlock Musketoon are quite rare and seldom encountered today. They saw service in Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas. they were used by the lst and 2ND Dragoons along with being issued to Texas the Galveston Hussars.

Condition
Barrel, breech, Lockplate, butplate and bands are very sharp and crisp with grey and serveral areas of brown stainning. All metal is very even. Wood is excellent with a small crack on the left side running from the rear tang to the sideplate. Forward of the sideplate is a very fine cartouche NWP in an oval and another on the comb of stock at the buttplate MPL in an oval. Wood has a nice opened-grained look.
