Description
English, first half 19th century. Armorial regimental old Sheffield plate silver meat dome with platter and hot water base, having the arms of the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot having the sphinx of the Napoleonic campaigns. The shell and gadrooned decorated dome, with similar platter, having an impressed tree and well, the double handled hot water base with shell and acanthus paw feet. Impressed "2" to the underside of the platter, but otherwise unmarked. Approx. overall, h. 15.5", w. 19.5", d. 25".
Condition
Scattered surface scratches from use with some copper bleeding through; no apparent engraving removal or repairs.
