DURGIN / GORHAM "COLFAX" STERLING SILVER 88-PIECE FLATWARE SERVICE, pattern designed in 1922 by Frederick R. Roberts, each piece with an engraved "M" to handle, comprising 12 place forks, 12 three-tined forks possibly for salad, fish, or dessert, 12 gumbo soup spoons, 12 teaspoons, 12 6 1/2" spoons with slightly pointed bowls, 12 butter spreaders, a butter knife, a sugar spoon, a jelly server, a gravy ladle, and 12 place knives with hollow handles and stainless blades. Each with the "D" maker’s mark for Durgin, which was sold to Gorham Mfg. Co. in 1905. Total weight excluding 12 place knives: 87.455 ozt. Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence, RI. Second quarter 20th century. 5 1/2" to 9 1/2" L.
Condition
Very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including slight bending, nicks, one or a few minor/small dents, and/or worn spots to raised decoration; ladle with moderate bend to handle and moderate surface scratches to bowl.
