Description
QUEEN VICTORIA SIGNED MILITARY COMMISSION, signed by Queen Victoria in upper left corner, for "Ronald Hough Walrond Rose / Gentleman", was "2nd. Lieutenant" for Land Forces, countersigned and with appropriate seals. Housed under glass in original frame with retailer label on reverse. Dated 1899. 12" x 16" object, 17 1/4" x 21 1/4" OA.
Provenance: Property from a Shenandoah Valley private collection.
Catalogue Note: Ronald Hugh Walrond Rose (1880-1914), captain of the Scottish rifles, was married to Hetty Fletcher in March of 1910, was killed in action during the First World War in Fromelles, France, and buried at the Ploegstreert Cemetery.

Condition
Very good overall condition with light toning / discoloration, typical fold lines, possibly laid to board. Frame with minor wear, likely re-painted. Not examined out of frame.
