On likely original stretchers, and housed in a period, possibly original, gilt frame. Mid 20th century. 24 1/2" x 29 1/2" sight, 30 1/2" x 35 1/2" OA.

Catalogue Note: Born in Rochester, New York, Emile Albert Gruppe (1896-1978) is most often associated with the Cape Ann region of Massachusetts, specifically the villages of Gloucester and Rockport. Gruppe painted numerous views of the waterfront in both locales, but primarily executed street scenes in Rockport.

Excellent overall condition. Frame with very minor wear.
