JAPANESE BUDDHIST KINRAN KESA, LATE 18th-EARLY 19th C. The Buddhist priest robe (Hira Kesa) assembled as a rectangular patchwork of blue silk and silver flat paper thread in a design of dragons and cloud bands upon a lattice with six orange silk brocade squares, peach color silk backing. 46 x 80. (Silk backing soiled and stained, front of Kesa with some abrasions and seam separations) good.
