Description
Late 18th, early 19th century (late Edo period) Japanese blue and white charger displaying a border of (12) circular frames with central animals signifying each year of a twelve year cycle. Underglaze blue mark of Ken. This kanji character, ken signifying kenryu-nen-sei which stands for the Chinese Qianlong period (1736-1795). From the estate of NYC hostess Alice Mason. Dimensions: charger measures approx. 20" in diameter.
Condition
Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents. With firing crack to the underside which occurred in the making. Please examine the provided photos to thoroughly evaluate each piece.
