Description
For your consideration is a large Chinese Ming Dynasty 'Swatow' or 'Zhangzhou' porcelain charger depicting phoenix. This bowl hales from the end of the Ming Dynasty - likely the Wanli period (1573-1620) and has an all over floral decoration with the bowl's center depicting two phoenix birds. This large example measures 11.25" in diameter and has no markings (typical of these provincial ceramics). The charger has a slightly upturned rim making it more of a very shallow bowl with a height of 2 1/4". This offering weighs 2 pounds, 2 ounces.
