Description
A rare Sumerian limestone plaque, c. 3rd Millennium BC, rectangular, one side with incised central figure in profile with a quadruped to side. They are bordered by a zigzag pattern. The opposite side bearing a centrally divided rectangle bordered by the same incised zigzag pattern. One of the long sides of the piece possesses three drilled holes, perhaps to insert votives. H: 2 ¾ x 1 7/8 in (7 x 4.8 cm). An interesting piece with some wear and deposits. Ex Orange County private collection.
