Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Finland, ca. 1897 CE. A stunning 77% gold ring, set with a sizable, octagonal bezel of coral-hued carnelian replete with regal opulence. The bezel is incised with a crisp armorial signet of high detail featuring a French style shield parted per fess. The bottom section of the shield displays a right-facing eagle with spread wings atop a stippled field, while the top shows 3 cross pattees on a barruly field on the top. The crown of a count caps the coat of arms. Likely created for a Finnish count, the elegant ring boasts applied, vegetal motif shoulders and a ribbon-form band. The interior of the band presents 5 hallmarks: the maker's mark of "RM," the Finnish mark of a crown, "750" for the gold content, a cross pattee, and "Q4" representing the year 1897.
