Western Europe, France, ca. 1890 CE. A solid 76% (equivalent to 18K+) gold armorial signet ring for the surname Auxy. The thick shank has a flat interior and flares to a rectangular face engraved with the coat of arms depicting a checkered shield flanked by lions and a knight's helmet with scrolling foliage above. The motto within the banner reads "ET TOI AUXY" and is engraved in reverse to use as a signet. The exterior lower shank contains an owl assay mark. The owl indicates this ring originated in another country but meets the minimum gold standards and passed through a French assay office. The Auxy family is one of the oldest noble families from Auxi-le-Chateau of Artois, dating back to the 12th century.
