A group of 3 Japanese Noh masks including one Tengu mask with two other masks possibly depicting demon characters. Noh is an ancient Japanese theatrical tradition ranging from performances of legendary tales to modern day events. The three masks in this group display menacing faces with open mouths showing teeth or fangs varying in colors from reds, browns, and blacks.
Dimensions are: the largest measures, 15 inches tall X 9 inches wide, 38.1 cm X 22.86 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Areas of loss to the pigments.
Provenance: From a private collection in Lorton, Virginia. The collector has been restoring antiques for over 50 years in the Washington, D.C. area.
