Stevan Dohanos (American, 1907 – 1994), Untitled, Gouache and graphite on paper. Unsigned. Sheet size approx. 21-1/4" x 18-1/2". Paper shows original fold lines, toning, some creases, pinhole in center, minor abrasions to surface, and minoredge wear/tears. Additional Info: Stevan Dohanos is primarily known for his post-war American life illustrations. He was born in Lorain, Ohio, and acquired his artistic training at the Cleveland School of Art. During the 1940s, Dohanos startedto work as an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post, and in doing so established his distinctive genre illustrations and the content for which he is recognized today. His work has been exhibited in various private and public institutionsincluding The Cleveland Museum, Avery Memorial of Hartford, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, New Britain Museum of American Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
