Description
Offered in this lot are two Native American beaded flat pouches. The first pouch is by Iroquois Natives and is from the early 1900s. The pouch is of blue trade cloth with red trade cloth and black velvet accents. The flat bag is made of trade cloth liner with old blue trade cloth. On both sides are artfully applied, traditional Iroquois floral beaded designs. There are loops of clear glass seed beads making a fringe of loops along the bottom of the pouch. The pouch is a nice size, measuring 3 1/4" x 2 3/4", and shows good condition and no obvious bead loss. The second pouch is of Plains Indians style. This pouch is made of leather in a folded square style. The pouch has geometric patterns in red and white seed beads, with one row of light blue beads. This random placing of different color beads is common in Plains Indian bead work. The pouch has a button closure and a small leather thong strap. There are some loose threads and some missing beads. This pouch measures 3 1/4" x 3 3/4".
