Description
**First Time At Auction**
North American, Native American, Iroquois peoples, ca. 1909 CE. A beaded pouch with a hard back covered in fabric, a golden beaded border, and a flap sewn onto its upper face. Beads form the number "1909," below the flap, presumably giving a date to the creation of the pouch. On the flap are two stylized insects with white, gold, purple, and blue bodies and wings. Dangling loops of beads hang down from the bottom of the pouch. Size: 8.75" L x 6" W (22.2 cm x 15.2 cm)
Provenance: ex Paul Wilkensen Estate; Mr. Wilkensen worked for National Geographic, lived in Denver, Colorado, USA, and taught at Syracuse University, New York, USA

Condition
Fraying and wear to cloth surface; many of the danging strings of beads are lost. Many of the original beads remain, with slight iridescence on their surfaces.
