Featured in this lot is a beautiful Persian Tabriz fine, hand woven wool area rug. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave. A Tabriz rug/carpet is a type of rug in the general category of Persian carpets from the city of Tabriz, the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province, northwest of Iran. The city is totally populated by Azerbaijanis and is one of the oldest rug weaving centers, making a large diversity of carpet types. Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs from medallion and Herati/Mahi to figural, pictorial, and even 3-d shaped rugs. The rug shows good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The rug measures 117" wide by 153" long.
