Dick Studley Studio Pottery Salt Glazed Porcelain Vessel. Beautiful art pottery by Massachusetts ceramic artist Dick Studley (American, b. 1950). Vessel is tall and round, with a narrow neck and wide lip, and has been incised with abstract lines; some cutting all the way into the center (vessel can not hold water). Exterior is salt glazed, with tones of brown, orange and beige in areas. Stamped Dick Studley. A similar vessel can be found on the Smithsonian Collection website; they have dated their piece as 1979 and described it as salt glazed porcelain with wood ash and slips. Very elegant and sophisticated specimen of art pottery.
