Neola McDavid (American, 20th Century) oil on canvas laid down on board painting titled "Grass Cutters" depicting two African American men clearing a field with two women seated slightly apart from them, a line of trees visible in the background beneath a cloudy blue sky. Unsigned. Exhibition label from the Davidson's 5th Southeastern Annual show from 1950 at the High Museum in Atlanta, GA with a Fambrough Frame Company, Atlanta, GA label, en verso. Housed in a wooden frame. Sight: 20 3/4" H x 29 3/4" W. Framed: 24 1/2" H x 33 1/2" W. Second quarter of the 20th century. Provenance: Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, TN.
Condition
Overall good condition. Canvas Board is loose in frame and is bowed at the top center. Areas of blistering, lower left and right.
