Description
This lot consists of an oil painting on unstretched canvas, rendered in the abstract expressionist style of modern artist Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 - 1944). "K 30" is hand painted at lower left corner of composition. Shapes, lines, abstractions and space come together to suggest an acutely kinetic energy. A fine example of the talent for which Kandinsky is so well known. Unframed piece measures approx. 19.5" x 13.5"
Reverse side features hand written and stamped inscriptions.
Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 - 1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as the pioneer of abstract art. Born in Moscow, Kandinsky spent his childhood in Odessa, where he graduated at Grekov Odessa Art school. He enrolled at the University of Moscow, where he studied law and economics, until he eventually began artistic studies (life-drawing, sketching, and anatomy) at the age of 30. Playful and poignant, Kandinsky is generally credited as the pioneer of abstract art.
