[9], 100 (map plates), 117 pp. With 109 maps with hand-colored outlines (61 are double-page), plus insets; numerous wood engravings and figure drawings within the text. 37x30 cm (14½x11¾"), period quarter morocco with buckram boards, ruled and lettered in gilt, raised bands; marbled endpapers.

The numerous double-page maps include: the World, various European countries, Asia, Arabia, Africa, North and South America (Canada, the United States, Mexico, etc.), Australia, the Pacific Ocean and more. The U.S. map shows a very large Nebraska, Minnesota, New Mexico, Utah, Oregon, Texas, and Kansas. Previous owner's penciled notations on verso of some plates.

Wear to boards and morocco, with scuffing and bumping to corners, front hinge cracked; gutters reinforced with archival tape, some damage near hinge on early leaves, occasional faint damp staining and foxing throughout, maps largely clean and bright; very good.
