A Lancaster County Needlework Sampler, Likely from the School of Leah Bratten Galligher Meguier

depicting a woman embroidering under a tree and within a floral border, reading Sarah Eberlein is my name / and with the needle wrought the / same in Lancaster County i was / born the 3rd of November in the / morn 1806 as i am told which / makes me near 11 years old.
21 x 16 1/4 inches.

The sampler is described in the 1903 Biographical Annals of Lancaster County, page 1223, in the entry of Milton Wike, Sarah Eberlein's son. Ā

Floral border, text and image mostly intact with good coloring. Wear and losses to silk border. Scattered, minor foxing. Toning to edges near and under silk border.
