Title: RARE, ANTIQUE, BRODERIE PERSE, CENTER MEDALLION QUILT WITH BIRDS, c.1830-40

Provenance/Additional Info: This is a very rare antique appliqued quilt. It is done in what is referred to as "Broderie Perse". Broderie Perse is French for "Persian Embroidery" This is a method of applique in which elements of whole fabric are cut out and applied to a backing fabric. This method of applique was done mostly in the early to middle of the 19th Century. This quilt dates to around 1830-1840. It is in very good condition but binding is fraying and the overall front has darkened with age. It measures 78" X 78"
