French artist Louis Emile Adan (1839-1937) painted this piece and called it "Summer Evening". This c1920 painting features one woman in the foreground carrying a jug in front of a body of water and two women in the background on the opposite side. It is signed in the lower left which was hard to shoot as it's partially hidden by the frame. It was framed by Schussler Bros, art dealers in San Francisco. Under the black paper is the artist last name and title with #3692. Wood also shows a lot of pencil writing that appears to be identifying the buyer/owner of the painting and address. The address is one of San Francisco's world renown Victorian homes. Made in France is stamped in red. Frame measures 7" x 8.5", image measures 4" x 5.5"
