AN ANTIQUE CIRCUS BANDWAGON STYLE "BACCHANALIAN" PAINTED RELIEF WOOD PANEL, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the red-painted chip carved panel with gold paint highlights centers a devious mask most associated with Bacchus or Silenus, in the Renaissance Revival style a garland of ripe fruits erupts from the mask mouth, an arched canopy overhangs the mask, and below are scattered juicy fruits, a mortar and pestle, and an ewer. Some losses and repainting, a repair lower left and some occasionally throughout, unsigned, now fitted with iron hooks for mounting, overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
