Description
AN ENGLISH GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED OAK PEW, 1840s, with a low rectangular back of carved linenfold panels over a deep conforming plank seat, flanked by tall ogee arch panel sides surmounted by stylized oak leaf globular finials above three similarly shaped vertical "windows," above exterior sides with circular reserves enclosing bow-ribbon tied oak leaf-and-acorn branches in shallow relief, flanking front-facing pilasters with diaper detailed sections and ending on squared bases joined by a board form stretcher. Height: 47" Width: 71 1/2" Depth: 16 1/4" Provenance: Private Collector, Houston, Texas
Condition
Good antique condition with normal surface wear, age shrinkage cracks, uneven patina, surface buildup, expected scuff marks, scratches, chips, and wear throughout.
