A ROCOCO REVIVAL "FOSTER FAMILY" SILVER PLATED SAMOVAR, POSSIBLY AMERICAN, CIRCA 1880, the bell form lid with sides of repoussé oval reserves of engraved floral bouquets enclosed by engraved scrolling leafy stems and surmounted by a shaped finial with curling foliate cartouche detailed sides, set within a flaring scalloped rim trimmed in beading over a short-waisted neck and flanked by "C" scrolled handles, on an ovoid body with repoussé lappet panels of engraved long leafy branches alternating oval panels of floral bouquets, centering an oval panel engraved with the coat of arms of a branch of the Foster family above a shaped spout with an arched floral beaded and scrolling stems cast handle, mounted on a compressed bun form knobbed socle flaring to a domed four-sided base with matching blank oval reserves and engraved foliage, over a scalloped base rim with beaded trim and raised on four nicely cast swirling acanthus leaf clusters ending in scrolled feet, verso hand inscribed "Abm Foster Esq," interior fitted with a removable cylindrical heating/cooling container.
