Description
Mary Pickford Lithograph from Her Estate, Along with Two Other Pieces of Oversized Artwork

A collection of three pieces of oversized artwork, including a color lithograph of American silent movie actress Mary Pickford (1893-1979) from her estate.

The lot includes:

1. A color lithograph depicting Mary Pickford in historical costume, probably a still from one of her silent pictures, ca. 1916. The print is signed in stone as "Sincerely, / Mary Pickford" at lower right. Expected toning and a few edge chips. Various pencil inscriptions found verso. Loosely matted within a mat via translucent frame corners. The foam core board verso features a typed label reading, "Mary Pickford / (born 1893 - died 1979) / color lithographic half-sheet poster / c 1916. / From Mary Pickford Estate." 27.5" x 21.375."

2. A serigraph by American artist Kurtis N. Thomas (born 1955) entitled "Natural Beauty Akin to Magic," #59/70, 1990, signed, dated, and inscribed in pencil below the image field. The print depicts birds and fish in a colorful wetland setting. The foam core backing is stamped with the artist's Mobile, Alabama address. 25.125" x 19."

3. A mixed media on paper with extensive Asian calligraphy verso. The work, which appears to be primarily oil or tempera on gold-speckled ground paper, depicts a mother and child in an orchard filled with fruit and animals. A few scattered superficial scuffs, else near fine. 22.125" x 24."
