Sioux Beaded Figural Bag, Made from Recycled Vest Panel
ca 1900
thread-sewn and beaded with buffalo imagery using colors of white, red, robin's egg blue, silver, pea green, black, and royal blue
length 18-1/2 inches
Collected by Paul Cowles (1945-2020), Rush, New York.
Cowles was a lifetime collector of First Nations Art and Artifacts, as well as fine firearms and other militaria and Americana. As a US Army Veteran serving in SE Asia in the early and mid-1960's many of his collecting interests revolved around the US military and sporting arms.
