A Satsuma vase
Meiji era (1868-1912), circa 1900
Of three-lobed gourd form painted in polychrome enamels and gilt on a clear crackled glaze with continuous friezes on the upper and lower lobes of people enjoying flower viewing, and an outing by a lake surrounded with blossoming cherry trees, the central lobe pierced with cash lozenges and painted with flower heads and geometric designs, the neck and foot decorated with floral bands simulating a drip glaze, signed on the underside in gilt Kinkozan tsukuru
