Description

Mason's Ironstone (English, founded 1813), circa 1820. Large apple green ground gilded ironstone lidded chinoiserie vase or temple urn, decorated with scrolled florals, lid with four eagles' or phoenixes' heads, and having applied dragon handles. Unmarked. Approx. h. 17.25", w. 12.75", d. 6.75".

Condition

Chips to dragons' teeth with possible restorations to ears; professional restorations to lid and body near handles visible under ultraviolet light; firing cracks and glaze imperfections; some gilt loss; piece is structurally sound.
