A Reissner, Stellmacher & Kessel, Amphora Pottery Co, portrait vase- Allegory of Germany-Summer Queen- designed by Nikolaus Kannhauser, hand-painted in colours, slip braid and heightened with gilt.
From the Portrait Series, circa 1899-1903. In the Art Nouveau style, of ovoid form, decorated with a side profile of a woman. Impressed and painted factory mark number 535.
Provenance- from the private collection of Mrs D. Duffy, Santa Barbara, CA
A larger Summer Queen pattern shape number 699, has appeared twice a few years ago firstly at Christie’s in April 2007 selling for £8,880, and secondly at Doyle Auctions in 2013 selling for $16,250 (information from appraisal report 2021).

Condition
Excellent condition. There is a minor hairline crack in the glaze adjacent to the subject's eye level (zoom in picture)
