Description
A pair of Japanese bronze guardian god statues dating from the Meiji period. Each comes with a bronze stand, and each holds a long weapon which can be removed from their hands. The gods wear armor incised with floral decoration as well as mythical beast helmets. They are depicted standing on rocks.
Dimensions are: each god without their stand or weapon measures 21 inches tall X 11 inches wide, 53.3 cm X 27.9 cm. Weight: each stand weighs 2900 grams, one statue weighs 6550 grams and the other statue weighs 7250 grams. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are areas of cracking and loss to the statues as well as wear to the stands.
Provenance: From a collector in New York.
