Description
c. 1950s Hiawatha Doodlebug - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: 9746 - Offered Without Reserve - After World War II, inexpensive transportation was a big business in the U.S. Cushman was selling scooters to appeal to the cheap transportation niches as well as the utility niche. Bearn Manufacturing stepped in after WWII with the Doodlebug. It was hard to believe that these were street legal at the time, and that you could get an optional lighting kit and generator. Power was from either a 1.5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine or a Clinton engine. It is believed that approximately 10,000 Doodlebugs were built. There is still an annual rally in Webster City, Ohio. Maybe you could ride this one there!
