[MEDICINE-PHILADELPHIA] Presentation Cane to Dr. Arthur de Collard. Ebony shaft with ornate 14k gold plated decorative presentation handle. Length 36”. Engraved at top, “To Doctor Arthur de Collard / Inventor of the Medical / Physical Culture System / Presented by his grateful / patients May 1900 / Philadelphia Pa.” Dr. Arthur de Collard invented the Medical Physical Culture System in the mid-1890s. He is also credited with creating numerous salves and ointments, the most successful of which being a salve of his own invention which he named Kasekraut which he claimed helped to reduce his weight from 302 to 168 lbs. He is also credited with helping to compose “The Admiral Dewey March” in 1898.
