To include a large and arresting albumen photograph of the Afton, Virginia train depot, with two African American women in straw hats, calico skirts and white aprons standing outside, while inside two young white men look out the window, elbows leaning on the sills. The women stand far apart, flanking the central window where the men lean, and everyone but the dog busy with something on the track looks directly at the photographer. Sepia tone, very clear.
