Description
To include a large and arresting albumen photograph of the Afton, Virginia train depot, with two African American women in straw hats, calico skirts and white aprons standing outside, while inside two young white men look out the window, elbows leaning on the sills. The women stand far apart, flanking the central window where the men lean, and everyone but the dog busy with something on the track looks directly at the photographer. Sepia tone, very clear. Also included is a group photo taken July 1902 of the West End Sunday School Picnic at Mount Elliot Springs, in Augusta County Virginia. Harry Bryan is identified as Sunday School superintendent; a carte de visite photo of an unidentified young man, the photo with back stamp of Rockwell's Gallery, Petersburg, Va, Rees, Artist; three High School class group photos taken circa 1920s, Girard, Pennsylvania, and an albumen photo of a man, woman and child, the man and woman seated on chairs outside in a barren landscape, low hills in the background. Elliot springs photo with broken and taped corner, affecting mounting card but not image. One class photo with missing corner. Photo of couple outside low contrast, indistinct. Afton depot photo card approx. 12" x 10". Image, approx. 9" x 7".
