GERMAN METTLACH AND RELATED STEINS, LOT OF FOUR, comprising two Mettlach mold number 2715 examples lacking lids, each 3/10 liter size, featuring cameo scenes including a dancing couple and central panel depicting a man playing a zither for a girl, one Thewalt mold 1220 example, size 0.5 liter, featuring an etched tavern scene with "Froh beim Bier das loben wir." above, having ceramic inset lid depicting a knight, and one glass example, 0.5 liter size, having porcelain inset lid featuring hand-painted image of man reading a book and smoking a pipe. Marks to underside include impressed "METTLACH / VB" and "GES.GESCH.", "TP" and additional impressed numerals. Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach, Germany; Johann Peter Thewalt, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia (Germany); and other. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 4 1/2" HOA.
