Joan "Tiger" Morse for A la Carte evening dress, c. 1960's, (American 1932-1972), heavy metallic brocade, silk lined with cap sleeves, attached belt, front pleats, zip back, with A la Carte label, approx. 33"b, 25"w, 56"l
Notes/Literature: Joan "Tiger" Morse was a New York socialite and designer who traveled the world looking for unusual fabrics and accessories for her boutique "A la Carte". Morse designed a similar dress in 1962 for Jacqueline Kennedy. The dress was worn by the first lady to a benefit performance of the musical Mr. Kennedy using fabric given to her by King Saud of Saudi Arabia. This dress is inspired by that design.
