Item Details

Description

About size 1 for the small finger as was the custom. 3.8mm width with slight transverse taper. Mottled brown patina with encrustation from burial. Vikings were expert metallurgists. The use of pure copper is rare and suggests a supernatural significance as alloys were much more durable. This example was made with a central core to distribute the metal and heat in the pouring process which was laboriously removed after cooling. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom's sword.
