Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chavin culture, ca. 900 to 200 BCE. A lovely blackware offering cup or bowl with a flat base and flared sides. The exterior is incised with a series of abstract glyphs in the distinctive Chavin style. Size: 4.3" W x 2.4" H (10.9 cm x 6.1 cm)
Provenance: private collection, Beaverton, Oregon, USA, acquired in September 2017; ex-private Cottonwood, Arizona, USA collection

Condition
Stabilized crack down one side and onto base, with a shallow surface loss at the edge of the base. Small chips, nicks, and scratches commensurate with age elsewhere. Great surface deposits and motifs are easy to see.
