Description
Note: This poster has edge tear repairs that were sealed with rice paper. The work is completely reversible.
We are thrilled to be offering this poster for the FIRST time in a PAE auction! This piece was originally designed to promote The Who's appearance at The Music Hall Theatre in Boston in August of 1968. The band put on two separate performances that evening, one at 7:30 and one at 9:30, with support from bands Ill Wind and Quill. The performance took place in between the release of The Who's third studio album, The Who Sell Out and their fourth studio album, Tommy. Concert goers reported an incredible show complete with Keith Moon destroying his drum kit during the second performance.
The poster features an interesting image of Pete Townsend playing guitar with buddha's emerging as music. The art was designed by David Jenks. This poster is quite rare and is seldomly offered to the public at auction. It is unlikely that it will show up again anytime soon!
