Description
Audrey Hepburn's Personally Owned Black Woven Wide Brim Hat From the Collection of Kent Warner W/Notarized Letter of Provenance - This black woven wide brim hat with black burlap bow was owned by legendary Golden Era film and fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn began her career at the age of 21, working as a model. She was noticed by French novelist Collette, who cast her in her Broadway play of "Gigi". She went on to star in her first feature film "Roman Holiday" in 1953, and became the first actress to win an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award for a single performance, skyrocketing her to stardom. She remains one of only 12 people who have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. The hat was acquired from the collection of Hollywood costumer Kent Warner, who worked for MGM Studios and is known for 'liberating' props such as the iconic ruby red slippers of "The Wizard of Oz" and Humphrey Bogart's trench coat from "Casablanca". The lot will be accompanied by a typeset letter of provenance signed by Warner dated 3/10/1979, which was also notarized on that date.
