Louis XV Giltwood Barometer
third quarter 18th century, the giltwood body framed in carved rocaille and scrollwork against a body decorated with incised latticework, the lower portion with carved flowerheads, both the dial and temperature panel hand-painted with pink and green roses.

Condition
**In "as found" condition. There is a glued repair at the very tip of the crest. Approximately 8" of the glass thermometer tube is gone. Scattered chips to the edges and gilding. Some filler added at the lower edge of the bezel. Shrinkage cracks consistent with age. Light wear and paint loss to the backplate of the thermometer and to the circular barometer dial. Some old touch-up to the gilding.
