The upper portion of the sheet is fragmentary with some losses, eliminating most of the area where the publication information appears. The last President shown is James Buchanan, elected in 1856, inaugurated 1857. Minnesota, admitted to the Union in 1858, is shown as a territory (and includes some areas that are now part of North and South Dakota). Title is legible, albeit with some chipping. Roller is fully separated. The map is essentially intact from the Hemispheres to the lower edge, with a relatively modest degree of creases, fractures, and flecks, usual yellowing.
