1762 French and Indian War Period Map titled, "An Accurate Map of the British Empire in Nth America as settled by the Preliminaries in 1762," Choice Extremely Fine.
From a 1762 issue of THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE (published in England). A nice view of the eastern seaboard, with an expanded insert view of the entrance to the Mississippi River. Bright paper and crisp printing, otherwise perfect measuring 9.5" x 12" small outer selvage trimmed at bottom right. According to the legend, "The countries Shaded with Lines are those formerly claim'd or possess'd by France and Spain and are now absolutely ceded & guaranteed to Great Britain. A great looking French and Indian War map, perfect for display. We note that we sold a lesser-quality example of this same Map in 2003 for $690, that being the only other example of this map that we have previously offered.
